A New Week, Let's Get Started!

Good evening, TEATRO members!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I just wanted to offer some updates!

TEATRO’s Second Open House this past Tuesday, in my opinion, went very well! I’ll leave it to the other Team Captains to update about their groups, but as for TEATRO’s Creative Writing Team, I mentioned mostly what I mentioned here:

1.I really want to get the Writing Workshops started soon. It would be a way to get the writers together, give them the opportunity to bring their writing with them or receive new ideas of things they could potentially write about, and to talk about goals for the semester. I need to know when’s best for you.

2.What I am now calling “Writing Communities,” yeah, I believe we really need to get those going, too. During the typical school day, I believe a lot of us get the urge to write something other than the academic stuff we have to write in our classes. What I would like to do is offer all of you the chance to meet with me, talk about writing, do some writing, et cetera. Whatever you want to do writing-wise, I want to give you someone to sit with (me) somewhere that you are comfortable on campus so that you can temporarily escape the academics. :-) Again, I just need to know when is best for you.

3.There is also going to be a writing contest this semester! You read that right. There is a Christmas Play Writing Contest in the motions. Students can write a play and submit it to us by the early days in May, we will read them, and the one we decide to use will be transformed into a play for a November event by TEATRO’s Theatre Club. The only string attached is we may ask the winner to shorten or lengthen their play, depending on the length of it at submission time.

That’s pretty much it, everyone! I really want to hear from all of you on when you will be available for the Writing Workshops and Writing Communities. I will start posting writing ideas, history on writers and other such things this week whenever I can.

I know you all have a wonderful week ahead of you.
Take care,
McKenzie :-)
