A New Week, Let's Get Started!

Good evening, TEATRO members!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I just wanted to offer some updates!

TEATRO’s Second Open House this past Tuesday, in my opinion, went very well! I’ll leave it to the other Team Captains to update about their groups, but as for TEATRO’s Creative Writing Team, I mentioned mostly what I mentioned here:

1.I really want to get the Writing Workshops started soon. It would be a way to get the writers together, give them the opportunity to bring their writing with them or receive new ideas of things they could potentially write about, and to talk about goals for the semester. I need to know when’s best for you.

2.What I am now calling “Writing Communities,” yeah, I believe we really need to get those going, too. During the typical school day, I believe a lot of us get the urge to write something other than the academic stuff we have to write in our classes. What I would like to do is offer all of you the chance to meet with me, talk about writing, do some writing, et cetera. Whatever you want to do writing-wise, I want to give you someone to sit with (me) somewhere that you are comfortable on campus so that you can temporarily escape the academics. :-) Again, I just need to know when is best for you.

3.There is also going to be a writing contest this semester! You read that right. There is a Christmas Play Writing Contest in the motions. Students can write a play and submit it to us by the early days in May, we will read them, and the one we decide to use will be transformed into a play for a November event by TEATRO’s Theatre Club. The only string attached is we may ask the winner to shorten or lengthen their play, depending on the length of it at submission time.

That’s pretty much it, everyone! I really want to hear from all of you on when you will be available for the Writing Workshops and Writing Communities. I will start posting writing ideas, history on writers and other such things this week whenever I can.

I know you all have a wonderful week ahead of you.
Take care,
McKenzie :-)

Good morning, TEATRO members!

In case you don’t know me, I am McKenzie Sanders, the Captain of TEATRO’s Creative Writing Team. I started up this blog so that I can keep updating, informing and inspiring each of you without the constant stream of emails. :-)

Another reason is to keep the spirit of TEATRO and Creative Writing moving each day, instead of only at our meetings. The purpose behind TEATRO’s Creative Writing Team is to focus on EXPRESSION through poetry, play writing and eventually short stories. This year, the central themes of TEATRO are on history and individualism.

What I want to do with this blog is keep everyone up-to-date on TEATRO Creative Writing events, post writing ideas and inspirational quotes, and possibly broaden it out into posting histories on famous minority and majority writers and writing discussions. If you want to leave any comments on any of my posts, feel free – all you have to do is either sign into a blog that you have to comment, or take a couple minutes and create a blog so you can comment. :-)

As for upcoming events, today is a BIG day! TEATRO is hosting its second Open House, to introduce the teams, our alliances, and our goals and ideas for this semester. It’s at 6:30pm in SAC 223, and I hope to see you all there. I will also post, possibly tomorrow, on what we covered in the meeting for any who may not be able to join us.

Thank you for checking in! I should be updating here at LEAST once a week!

Respectfully,
McKenzie Sanders
Captain of TEATRO Creative Writing Team
